March came in like a lion......

I have to admit something.....when hearing of the possibility of snow I was not as excited as everyone else who is under 5' at my house. For them snow is all about the adventure, as it should be for me- but all I could think of were all those wet clothes and the cold little bodies. I might have even complained about the snow to Josh before he left for work this morning.
Luckily, I got over it and happily got everyone out the door, dressed in snow clothes and ready for the fun. My dad even dropped off two sleds and a 'snowboard' on his way to work. :) For those who don't live close by- we got somewhere near 4-5 inches of snow....lots for these parts. The girls ended up saying it was the best day of their lives
Gracie girl hanging out on a sled (while I shoveled the sidewalk that was in the shade all day)

Morgan decided to help out with the shoveling (you can also see Raelyn, our neighbor Aaron and our neighbor Grace in the background)

The girls taking the sleds around to the back of house where there is a small hill

I LOVE having a boy- he has crazy balancing skills (definitely didn't get those from me) he was riding this snowboard around everywhere. He'd put his feet in the footholds correctly and then would 'shimmy' himself whereever he wanted to go. He'll be ready to hit the slopes next year!

He also ate way more snow that he should have...he kept telling me it tasted really good, so I asked him what it tasted like. His answer......chicken.

I guess I have to give away all my secrets......

I've gotten several e-mails and a few blog comments about Gracie's cake, so here goes....... I am not a cake baker nor do I decorate cakes well. I always look for the easy way out.
A couple years ago I found this cake pan (it's by Wilton) and loved it- my mom got it for me for Christmas, Birthday or something like that. All you do is bake it in two seperate pieces and then with a little icing 'stick' them together. I iced the top with strawberry frosting and left the bottom au natural. I also put some of those large round 'sprinkles' on the top and got a larger-than-normal birthday candle. If I can do it- you can too.
This is what the cake pan looks like (you have to bake the stinkin' thing for almost an hour though-so it gets done in the middle. Here is a link to where to buy.

.....

All joking aside, for those who don't already know- we are expecting our fifth little one in August 2009. We couldn't be more excited (especially Raelyn!!) other than the fact we don't have any girl names (so let's hope it's a boy!) But of course, we'd love a girl too.......

She's One!!

Gracen Carole Long turned one on Tuesday. Monday night we had a little birthday party for her at our house with a pizza dinner. Aunt Megan even drove down from KY for just one day to get to see Gracie!!
Much to my dismay she didn't even eat a bite of her cake- although she did have fun demolishing it with a fork

And this picture is to show her rear of her knit longies- this was her special birthday outfit (notice the cupcake theme??)

Science Museum

Morgan takes some classes for homeschoolers at a local children's science museum and so we the little kids and I spend some time playing there. I thought I'd take a few pictures last week while we were waiting.

Camping with Girl Scouts

I help out at Morgan's Brownie Troop and we did a little one-nighter camping trip the first weekend in February. Gracie went too as the littlest camper.
